What is wrong with Klein's voice? I remember hearing a talk of his when I was a kid and literally not understanding one word. I had been trained to take notes and simply couldn't. Why would someone who basically speaks gibberish be assigned to speak to thousands of people?

That is a scary picture. They all have looks of mind-numbed zombies. Makes me want to scream at them to WAKE UP!

I'm starting to develop a real hatred toward this religion
by man in black inthis past week i flew out of town to attend a seminar for work, then afterwards i drove 150 miles extra to go and visit my dad.. two years ago my mom died, and the lack of concern/caring from the so-called "friends" from two different states was a major reason why i walked away from the jw religion.. anyway, my dad is depressed and his local hall has him doing more fs, and attending the meetings,,, ok so that could be a good thing for him.. but i noticed that service and meeting attendance is the only thing that they are pushing on him.
nobody seems to check up on him, he just jumped at the chance to go out to eat with me.
and the negativity !!!

I can relate. I was on my way to exiting when my aged parents got sick and died within 6 months of each other. I admittedly could have held my tongue more but it was hard to not talk to them (especially my dad) about the things I was feeling. He finally told me he couldn't take hearing anymore. Poor man. He invested his whole life into this and I think he realized deep down that something was very wrong. The changes in teachings in the mid-nineties really bothered him. He was a deep thinking person who wouldn't just swallow the Kool-Aid without thinking things through first.
It's a tough situation. But, you're doing the right thing by being there for him and letting him have his fantasies without trying to tear down his worldview too much.

February 2011 KM - no more daily text before service
by Red Piller inheard this today from a good source.
my guess everybody is delaying leaving the service meeting - and this is an attempt to fix this.. that's what i see in our service groups - no one is in any rush to go out (again).

I used to *hate* conducting meetings for field service. What a nightmare! Everyone was half-asleep anyway, no one wanted to comment and then arranging the car groups was the very worst part of it all.
One time I actually walked out! I was only 19 at the time and the situation so overwhelmed me that I just left.

A Gem From This Week's TMS
by torn in two son inbefore i get to the gem in this week's tms, let me let any of you newbies here up to date with us jdubs and schooling.
in the february 22, 2002 watchtower, the wtbts released the article titled "how my dream was fullfilled".
it was one of many typical jw stories of a good devout jdub "resisting temptation" and accepting the borg as absolute truth.

I agree, James. It was an unreadable post by clearpoison.

Are they really that bad???
by anonymous4 inhad a good look into the doctrine, beliefs and practices of jws and to be honest, i don't really see anything wrong with it at all.. it's biblical and i've had such an eye opener the past year or so reading some of their books and magazines .
is there really any real reasons why i shouldn't want to get involved further?
:-).

Be sure to ask the person you're studying with about the wonderful new light received about what Jesus meant by the word "generation" in Matthew 24:34. It's changed six times in the history of the organization but the most marvelous new understanding was carted out to members this past Spring. Really *think* about what they're saying this verse now means.

Who Has the Most to Answer For?
by Eiben Scrood inthere have certainly been a number of "characters" in watchtower lore who share much responsibility for misery endured by the rank and file for the last 100 plus years.
as much as rutherford certainly seemed to be a megalomaniacal control freak, i would still put the majority of the blame on one fred franz.. i know it was rutherford who wrote the book children which told people not to get married in the early 1940s because the "princes" would be soon ruling the earth but from that point on, was it not freddie who published one piece of bullshit after another?
his infamous tirades against education such as the 1968 publication saying you would never grow up to use it being one example.

As much as Rutherford certainly seemed to be a megalomaniacal control freak, I would still put the majority of the blame on one Fred Franz.
Of course, his biggest blunder is his very own oracle-hatched predictions about 1975. He was also responsible for the ridiculous restrictions against oral sex, saying that homosexual sex didn't provide grounds for divorce and giving elders the power to police marriages. The list goes on about what this wacko wrote and then published as the very words of God.
I don't know who cooked up this new overlapping generation crap. It certainly ranks up there as one of the most ridiculous things ever published by the Watchtower. I still don't think it will cause the overall damage that Fred's decades long rule did.

Generation Teaching - Everyone is speechless?
by Red Piller inmaybe the effect of this change is bigger than realized?
in 1995, it was discussed (positively) by everybody, during the week we studied the wt.
one elder stepped down and was looked down upon.

Eggnog, writing a book isn't helping your case. Bullshit is bullshit whether in small or large quantities.

Eggnog has so much invested in his Watchtower fantasies that he just can't let them go. I mean, how much bullshit can a person swallow before saying enough is enough? This generation thing undermines the entire religion. They fed falsehoods to the rank and file for decades, changed the falsehoods to other falsehoods again and again for many more years. Where does it stop? What will it take before deluded Watchtowerites like eggnog finally realized they have been played for fools?

sings: "In due time, we'll welcome back the dead, help them feed on Christ the living bread."
Everything is future with the Watchtower. Our present lives mean nothing. They simply don't care that they leech off of society.
